What is a Picture / Art Hanging System

A Picture / Art Hanging System is used to hang Artwork, or Pictures from a wall or ceiling and usually consists of just three basic components: rail, hanger, and hook.

Selecting A Rail

The rail is available in a wall-mounted and ceiling mounted options. Depending on the look you are after we have a range of different rail styles to suit your project. Each rail has different capable weights which may be the deciding factor on what you intend to hang. Our Click Track Rails and Slimline rails support lighter weights wheras our Moderna, Gallery and Sky Rails are used generally to support heavier picutres and artwork.

Selecting A Cable / Rod

After selecting the rail, the next step is to choose the hanger option, which can be a cable or rod. The cables are available in clear nylon, which are used to hang lighter objects, or stainless steel and are extremely popular because they are strong and can hold heavier weights. Depending on the rail you selected, the cable you select will have to be compatible with it. You can check the compatible cables for your rail on the rail product details section.

Selecting A Hook

To complete the hanging system, the last step is to choose a hook. The hook can be positioned at any height along the cable or rod, and then attaches to the art or picture. Our hooks for both cables and rods come in different sizes and shapes, so you are are able to find the perfect hook for your art. Our hooks can be secured with either a side screw or some of our hooks are self gripping which will self tighten without the use of tools.
